City of Fairburn Police Department Foils Freight Theft; Property Recovered and Arrests Made

Fairburn, GA — November 5, 2025 — The City of Fairburn Police Department is providing an update on an ongoing investigation involving stolen freight property recovered within the Fairburn area.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, officers responded to a call reporting suspicious activity near the railroad tracks. Upon arrival, officers located a large quantity of boxed televisions concealed in a wooded area adjacent to a stopped freight train. The items were determined to have been unlawfully removed from the train.

As officers continued their search of the area, a vehicle believed to be connected to the incident was identified and stopped nearby. Two individuals were detained and subsequently turned over to CSX Police, who are leading the ongoing criminal investigation. Working alongside CSX Police, Fairburn officers assisted in securing and recovering approximately 80 to 100 televisions, ensuring all property was collected as evidence.

“This case is a strong example of how community awareness and coordinated policing lead to meaningful results,” said Chief of Police Anthony Bazydlo. “A citizen’s decision to speak up, combined with the swift work of our officers and the partnership with CSX Police, prevented significant loss and further criminal activity.”

There is no current threat to the public, and additional information regarding suspects will be released when appropriate as the investigation continues.

The Fairburn Police Department remains committed to maintaining public safety and supporting regional efforts to prevent freight theft.
